[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics is speeding up development of new businesses at the enterprise level with the recently launched Future Business Planning Group. It has also established a 'Business Development Group' in the DX (Device Experience) sector, which is in charge of set businesses such as home appliances and smartphones.

According to the industry on the 12th, Samsung Electronics recently established a 'Business Development Group' in the DX Division through reorganization and created a business development organization with the same name in three divisions: Mobile Experience (MX) Division, Video Display (VD) Division and Consumer Electronics (DA) Division. Vice President Baek Jong-soo will head the group and concurrently head the New Business Task Force (TF).

The business development group is expected to play a general role in discovering new businesses that will be responsible for the future of the set sector. Amid worsening performance in set sectors such as home appliances and smartphones due to the economic recession this year, the company will focus on finding new business possibilities in the mid- to long-term.

It is expected to cooperate organically with the Future Technology Secretariat, which was established in August. The Future Technology Office is an organization dedicated to new technology and new product strategies. Kim Kang-tae, head of Samsung Research (SR)'s technical strategy team (vice president), will concurrently serve as secretary general. The Future Technology Secretariat will focus on technology, and the business development group will focus on finding new businesses that can take advantage of it.
