[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Amid a series of recent delays or cancellation of T'way flights due to gas defects, some passengers of T'way Air bound for Gimpo above sea level reportedly traveled from Gimhae to Gimpo on a rental bus instead of a plane due to aircraft defects on the 10th.

According to industry sources on the 13th, T'way Air flight TW962, which was scheduled to leave for Gimpo Airport at 10:05 a.m. on the 10th, was canceled after its departure was delayed due to the discovery of a gas defect.

Passengers were on board for departure and waited for more than an hour on the runway before being guided to the final cancellation. Moreover, T'way Airlines could not prepare an alternative flight, so it deployed four buses to move passengers from Gimhae to Gimpo.

In the process, some passengers were wrongly informed that their tickets could not be refunded when using the bus, and passengers protested.

"In the process of checking the aircraft, the waiting time for passengers inevitably got longer," T'way said. "We rented a bus to provide transportation for passengers to reach their destination as soon as possible." "We are currently refunding passengers," he said. "Even if you take a bus, you can get a refund on your flight ticket."

Meanwhile, T'way Airlines has three delayed or canceled flights this month alone and six in the past four months.

In the early morning of the 12th, the T'way Air plane, which was about to depart from Bangkok, Thailand to Cheongju Airport, was delayed for 18 hours due to a fuselage defect, causing great inconvenience to passengers. The plane, carrying 185 passengers, went into emergency maintenance as an alarm sounded and the smell of burning filled the plane while traveling to the runway. T'way Airlines decided that it was an 'engine defect' and canceled the flight and sent an alternative flight to the site.

In addition, on the 3rd, flight TW156, which was supposed to come to Cheongju Airport from Natrang, Vietnam, was repaired due to a gas failure and departed eight hours later.

Earlier on Oct. 30, a TW303 flight from Incheon to Guam returned for an emergency safety inspection, and in mid-October, flight TW130, which was coming to Daegu Airport from Da Nang Airport in Vietnam, returned 30 minutes after takeoff due to a gas defect. In August, flight TW158, which was supposed to come to Incheon International Airport from Natrang, Vietnam, was canceled due to aircraft problems.
