[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Eugene Corporation recently filed a complaint with the police against the "financial difficulty" rumor that spread in the process of acquiring YTN, asking them to punish the distributor.

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul said on the 13th that Eugene Enterprise, the parent company of Eugene Group, has filed a complaint against a distributor who spread financial rumors on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communication Network Use and Information Protection (defamation).

"Since the acquisition of YTN, there have been malicious rumors that the company is suffering from financial difficulties through the information magazine," a Eugene Group official said. "We requested an investigation because we believe there may be a force behind it."

Eugene Group previously offered the highest price of 320 billion won in the YTN bidding competition on October 23, beating Hansae Yes24 Holdings (234 billion won) and One Korea Media Holdings (126.3 billion won) related to Unification Bridge. Since then, there have been reports that Eugene Group is struggling to raise funds for offering the acquisition price, which is about KRW 86 billion more expensive than its competitors. Eugene Group stressed that "there is no problem in raising funds for the acquisition."
