[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Prosecutors investigating the alleged coercion of Paris Baguette bakers to leave the union have summoned SPC CEO Hwang Jae-bok.
On the 13th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office summoned Hwang as a suspect in connection with the unfair labor practices of PB Partners, a subsidiary of SPC Group.
Hwang served as PB Partners' representative. The prosecution is known to ask Hwang how unfair labor practices took place at PB Partners and whether there was any involvement at the SPC Group level.
Prosecutors are investigating allegations that PB Partners urged members of the Paris Baguette branch of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' Hwaseom Food Union to leave the union or penalized them in personnel management.
The prosecution is also said to have confirmed that PB Partners communicated with other unions in the company by handing over the list of other union members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions to the labor union of PB Partners, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, and its nationwide business unit.
The prosecution judged that a large number of people participated in the process of pressuring the withdrawal of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and since then, attempts to destroy evidence have been made systematically.
The prosecution is also investigating the case separately after finding circumstantial evidence that Hwang bribed a prosecution investigator in the past.
Prosecutors reportedly suspect Hwang bribed investigator A and obtained information related to the investigation, including the schedule of the search and seizure, in return, when Heo Young-in (74), chairman of SPC Group, was investigated by the Fair Trade Investigation Division of the Central District Prosecutors' Office on charges of breach of trust and other charges.
The Human Rights Protection Office of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office raided Hwang and the investigator over bribery charges on the 11th.
