[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, HD Hyundai's intermediate shipbuilding holding company, said on the 15th that it has won three orders for ultra-large ethane carriers.
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering recently signed a contract with a Oceania-based shipping company to build three super-large ethane carriers of 98,000 cubic meters. The total contract amount is 500 million dollars (658.9 billion won).
The Ethan carrier, which was ordered this time, is 36.5 meters long, 36.5 meters wide and 22.8 meters high, will be built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan and delivered sequentially to the shipper by the first half of 2027.
As a result, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering won an order for two ethane carriers on Nov. 16 and won three more, winning a contract to build a total of five ethane carriers in a month.
In particular, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering won a total of 80 gas carriers this year alone, including 39 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 34 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, two liquefied carbon dioxide carriers and five ethane carriers.
