[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics is going to supply HBM3 (High Bandwidth Memory) to NVIDIA in earnest.

According to the Alpha Biz coverage on the 19th, an official familiar with Samsung Electronics' internal situation said, "NVIDIA recently completed internal approval for the supply of HBM3 chips with Samsung Electronics," and added, "Samsung Electronics will begin mass production as early as this year and begin formal supply early next year."

Currently, NVIDIA is said to be exclusively supplied with HBM3 chips from SK Hynix.

Samsung Electronics has been working hard to supply HBM3s to NVIDIA. In the market, Samsung Electronics has predicted that HBM3 supply to NVIDIA is in countdown.

However, NVIDIA's supply certification and main contract for Samsung Electronics were unclear.

According to related industries, it may be difficult for NVIDIA to smoothly supply SK hynix's exclusive delivery of HBM3 in the face of soaring HBM demand, and there is a need to deal with Samsung Electronics in order to diversify its customers.

"While Samsung Electronics' performance is also expected to bottom out next year and get back on track, we have gained momentum with the approval of the HBM deal with NVIDIA," Yoon Joo-ho, CEO of Umbrella Research, told Alpha Biz.

In this regard, Samsung Electronics did not give any answer to Alpha Biz's official inquiry.
