[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Life Insurance has decided to keep its dividend base date for 2023 as usual. This is to prevent shareholder confusion due to sudden changes in base date.

On the 14th, Samsung Life Insurance confirmed the dividend base date for 2023 as the end of the year (December 31). This means that shareholders must hold shares in Samsung Life Insurance at the end of the year to qualify for dividends.

Companies have usually set the year-end dividend base date. However, companies have recently announced plans to postpone the dividend base date to the next year. The move comes as financial authorities encourage companies to advance the dividend process, which sets dividends first and sets dividend base dates.

On the 14th and 15th, major insurers such as Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Hanwha Life Insurance Co. and DB Insurance Co. confirmed their plans to change the dividend base date from the end of the year to after next year's shareholders' meeting.
