[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Reuters reported that SK Hynix plans to raise funds by issuing US $ 1 billion (about KRW 1.3 trillion) worth of bonds.
According to related sources, SK Hynix has selected eight investment banks to issue three- and five-year bonds, and the size of the issuance will be based on market conditions in the future.
SK Hynix posted a deficit of 1.8 trillion won in the third quarter of last year due to falling demand for smartphone and personal computer (PC) semiconductors and has been in the red for four consecutive quarters since the fourth quarter of 2022.
However, earnings are expected to improve as DRAM and NAND prices are rebounding thanks to reduced production by major semiconductor companies, and demand for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors is increasing.
According to DRAM Exchange, the average fixed transaction price of DRAM general-purpose products (DDR4 8Gb) for PCs in December last year was $1.65, up 6.45% and 6.45% from the previous month.
